Has anyone had experience with laptop computers and preventing DAT updates while these devices are dialed in? We will be deploying a number of mobile devices in vehicles and would like to prevent the updating of dat files until the units are connected to our network directly. While remote, the devices will communicate at a rate of 19.2 Kbps. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

A possibily might be to create dedicated hardware profile when dial-up or not.

In "Dial-up" profile, disable "McAfee Framework" services as well as "Network Associates Task Manager"

This should help.

You can also try using IP-Filtering, we have done that for our thin connection (Wireless mobil solution). I have asked Mcafee for a option that would alow machins to jump from different IP scoups to get different policies in Epo.

This have worked for us :)
