Hi there,

I read in one of the threads a while back that someone disabled the feature of pressing ctrl + enter to get into the background of MS Access. How do I do this, and can I assign another method to open into the background?

At the moment I use code to assign permissions to my database, but all it takes is someone knowing to press ctrl+enter and it is simple to bi-pass.

If anyone has a solution it would be of great help!)

If you are using 97, just open your Dbase, and click on TOOLS/STARTUP. Click the "Advanced>>" button and take the check mark out of "Use Access Special Keys". That will disable the SHIFT feature....

(You may also wish to diable "Allow Toolbar/Menu changes" depending on how your code is written. If not disabled, they can get into design mode.)

Hope it helps!

The easiest way to stop someone from getting into design mode is to implement security. That way, you can stop them from reading the design - so they won't be able to go to design mode.

Be sure to read the Security FAQ, and follow the steps exactly.

Thanks I actually am using 2000. Sorry I forgot to mention that. If I disable the special keys though, will that mean I can't get into the database in admin mode at all?

I was hoping to avoid using the Access securities if I could. I have used them in the past at other places I have worked, but at one place there were issues with using them.... I guess it is a last resort... Thank you though.)
