Hi there, if you look in the 'System Messages' book you'll find the answer to your question. The document number from Nortel is (553-3001-411). It's under NWS: Network and Signaling Diagnostic in the PDF if you have access to download it.

what switch are you in..

>err NWS301 will do a screen in newer switches.. i would do a lookup and post the response but i'm at home, they get mad if i try to bring the 81c home

THE MESSAGES ARE TELLING YOU THAT THE TN'S ARE FAILING TEST, AS NO PHONE OUT THERE

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

NWS0401 l s c: u1 u2 un
"A fault has been detected on: 1. PE card L s c (u1, u2, do not appear
in the message), or 2. PE unit L s c u1u2. If a card or unit number is
preceded by a minus sign, the card or
unit was disabled. The fault may be: 1. PE card l s c peripheral buffer
on the shelf 2. SL-1 or Digital sets associated with units u1, u2,
etc."

NWS0301 ls c1 c2 cn
"Two or more PE cards c1, c2, etc. on loop l shelf s failed the
signaling test, or the results of the shelf test varied. LD 30
automatically tests each shelf two ways. If a card
number is preceded by a minus sign, one or more units on that card were
disabled. The fault may be: 1. one or more of cards c1, c2, etc. 2.
peripheral buffer or controller for
shelf 3. loop cable to PE shelf 4. network card the loop. If only one
card is listed, an intermittent PE card fault is possible."

Severity: Critical

those don't look like great things to get back on a test. might need to retest and address the cards failing the 301, test.. my switch does not locate the 501, but that can't be good, test results usually are worse as the number increase. i did note that both test are critical..
