Disable Turning 1st Character to Upper Case

Hello, in both Word 2000 and 97 how can I disable Word turning 1st character in every sentence to UPPER case?

If you don't want to disable the feature of capitalizing the first letter of every sentence, but just want to selectively do it you can do an Undo (Ctrl+z) immediately after the letter is automatically capitalized. However the undo feature only works when you actually see it automatically capitalize....it doesn't recursively go back if you have continued to type.
