How can i disable onboard sound without using bios?

I want to install a pci sound card, because of this i need to disable onboard sound, but some (idot) guy put a bios password on and never told me.

is there anyway other than flashing the bios that i can get around this????

thx for your help:)

p.s.

os ------win98se
bios ----american megatrends super bios r1.2a
Mb unkown, will get if you need to know :)

If it's not broke, don't fix it!

Go to Device Manager>Sound ... controllers>General>Device Usage>Disable in this hardware profile (check)

Pull the CMOS battery overnight. Should come back to default items on next boot. Should allow BIOS access where you can reset the CMOS values and allow disabling the onboard.

thanks people, i removed the battery, but while i was doing this noticed extremely small writing on the mother board saying 1-2 normal 2-3 reset assumed this was to do with the bios, changed the jumpers to 2-3 rebooted nothing happened, changed them back and hey presto bios reset.

thanks for the info and stuff, couldn't have done it without you:)

thx again
neil :)
