Nobody replying??? I have some ideas that just might work.
1. Put a post it note on the phone saying don't press me.
2. Jam your screw driver into the button and pry it out.
3. Open the phone and put some tape between the button and the circuit board.
4. Hire Terry Tate the office linebacker.
I've actually had this same reqeust before. Our "customer" who we take calls for doesn't want us putting callers on hold, so th ask was if we could disable the hold button.
I don't think it's possible short of taking the phone a part, as per Phoneguy55's post.
Assuming you went thru all the trouble to do that, how long do you think it would take an agent to figure out the hold doesn't work, and just us the CONF+Release to do the same thing.

We do get strange request sometimes. I had to turn off displays on 6408D+ sets a while back. Agents were looking at the CID to see if they would answer the calls or not.
Even Terry would has had his hands full with this bunch ..
Other than whats been mentioned, you may be able to remove the face plate off the phone and just remove the button.
When is the last time you helped someone, just because you were able to?
