Disable HP 895cxi print spooler??

When printing with an HP 895cxi, it is almost impossible to use the computer for other tasks as the HP print spooler apparently takes over the Windows98 spooler and releases the data in batches. It is very slow and makes using the computer so jerky(1 second on, 2 seconds off, etc...), it is maddening. Is there a workaround for this, or a way to disable the HP spooler. Other HP print drivers(ie HP 870) don't have this annoying feature, but also don't have the duplexing feature that I often use.

in the proprs of the printer under spooling change the spool data format from emf to raw the will disable spooling and will send the info right to the printer

the spooler is not problem here it sounds more like a commumiation error test commumication to the printer, gunthnp
