Folks,

I have a locked down profile for Windows XP Pro using W2003R2sp2 & group policy 1.02. I had to create shortcut to an excel file on the desktop and when you right-click and go to properties you can hit the find target button and browse my computer which I don't want users to do.

Can I disable the Find Target Button through GPO or the registry on the pc?

Everything I have read seems to indicate that it is not an easy thing to do without some deep hacking of Windows.

How can i disable find target from properties?.....?

Can you change the location of the target file on your computer and place it elsewhere in a non-sensitive area? The remaining files and folders on your computer should then be controllable via access permissions.

Can you place the target file on the users computer?

not so easy, but u can disable the whole context menu through gpedit, maybe that helps

User configuration|Administrative Templates|Windows Components|Windows Explorer|Disable Windows Explorer's default context menu.

Lemon13, that worked a treat and they cannot right-click the shortcut and get any of the properties.
