Disable embedded NIC on ML350

Hi

I want to disable the onboard NIC on a ML350.

I have gone into RBSU, then went to PCI Devices and disabled the NIC - this didn't work.

I also went into device manager on the OS and uninstalled the NIC with it also disabled in RBSU, rebooted the machine nd it just reinstalled the card.

I know that it is possible because I read somewhere that a person did it to test something but there were no instructions.

Can somebody please help me?

Not sure what generation your box is but we had a similar problem with an ML380. We tried allsorts of things including firmware upgrades, different SmartStart etc. Here is the response from HP: -

I think you can disable the NIC with the SmartStart CD.

If all else fails, just disable it from an OS point of view in Device Manager.

I already tried it from device manager and it didn't help.

We managed to figure out there was a problem with the server and it went back to HP.
