Is there a way to disable the backlight on a 5304 IP phone? I have one in a low-light room (observatory) and it's having to be covered up when in use.

Yes
You need to have rel 4.2 to do this
I might have some firmware files which you can FTP on to the controller which you can use until you have the software which has it included.

Actually I am on 4.2. I figured it was somewhere in the CoS options but I don't see it anywhere. How do you do this?

Thanks!

I don't think you can disable backlight but the 5304 are auto dimming

You can indeed turn off the backlight with the correct firmware.
I have installed the 5304's in hotels that required them to turn off after 2 mins so they do not annoy the guests at night.
There is no CoS option for it
The backlight first dims then goes off.
Like I said I still have the firmware if you need it.
However if you upgrade your MCD software you will need to reload it again.

Yes, I'm interested in this firmware.

Many thanks for the assistance!

Here you go
You will need to unzip and then FTP the files into the TFTP folder on the 3300
I would copy the originals to your hard drive first before over writing them with the three files in the zip file

Thank you!! Will this image work on MCD 5 as well?

I don't see why not
It is the phone firmware so should be OK
