Hello,

In case of an emergency I need to disable all or cisco ip phones except for 5 of them. I have looked but don't see any way to do it without rebooting them all to apply the new config.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

What do you mean disable? what exactly are you trying to achieve?

I work at a remote mine and we would like to turn off all offisite calling in case of a major accident but keep all onsite calling. We also need to have our medic and safety people still have the ability to call offsite for support etc...

You would probably want to just change the route patterns rather than disable phones? I would think you would still want to retain your extension to extension dialing simply as a communications tool. Also, what if the staff who need off site dialing are not at the designated phones?

Forced authorization codes may work for you in these situations. You can change the level for each route you have set up, 0 under normal circumstances, then up it as needed in emergencies. This will take some manual intervention, but so would anything else you might try.

Create a new css that matches exactlythe existing one for the phones that are allowed to call out abd call it say ERT_CSS. Assign it to the phones that the emergency stuff needs to call out.
Then in an emergency, go to the existing css that is assigned to the rest of the phones and remove all the partitions assigned to the outbound route patterns.

That's as simple as it gets.

Creating the new css worked.

Thank you everyone for your help!
