Disable a Printer 1

My objective is to disable or hide (but not permanently delete or remove) a printer on Windows XP, so that it is no longer present in the list of available printers displayed to a user from within an application. Is there a way to do so (and a way to restore the availability of the printer at a later date, if needed)?
