I don't know if anyone would be comfortable posting an answer to this question but I'm trying to find a way (if there is one) to give a customer dial tone on an IP Office Basic system when he is outside the office so he can call back out through the phone system. Copper lines. These lines do support disconnect clear and work great for call forward offsite. I've been testing with an IP Office mode system and copper lines and can get dial tone by using vm box options etc., but system won't accept DTMF after that. I'm posting here because a Key system IP Office might actually be easier to do this on since it picks up a line automatically and operates differently. I haven't come up with a way yet though.

I can provide some security for the user with ICR CID and since they want this feature so badly (and don't want SIP or PRI lines or vm pro) I'll just tell them what the security risks are.

Please let me know if you have any ideas. Someone posted a couple years ago that there might be a way to do DISA with embedded VM (IP Office mode)--if you know how to get that to work it would be appreciated as well.

I won't get into why we are in this place with the customer (basic mode, no SIP or PRI, etc.) but if you have a way to get this to work I appreciate it!

Thanks

Actually, I probably couldn't provide much security in basic mode--I'm not sure there even is an incoming call route. Well if there is a way to do this in Basic or IP Office mode, either will work. I've tried fne as well but no luck yet.

There's a reason its called "Basic Edition"!

Stuck in a never ending cycle of file copying.

I'm not quite sure how it works but I know the EC Voice quoting tool gives an option to terminate analog extensions out of building, using an IPO PHONE BARRIER BOX 101V. Maybe that will do the trick.

Interesting--I'll look up that Barrier Box ipolmans. I wonder too if some sort of off hook dial analog extension would work--I haven't tried that yet.

Looks like the barrier boxes are just a way to get analogs to other buildings safely--not really to get dial tone.

:

"Where analog phone extensions are required in another building, additional protective equipment must be used, in the form of IP Office Phone Barrier Boxes and protective earth connections."

The Barrier Box is nothing more than a Surge Protector.

You need some type of 3rd Party Call Bridging device that attaches to 2 of the KSU's Analog Station Ports.

Try Mike Sandman in Chicago, if he is still in business.

Get an Essential edition license and run IP OFFICE mode!

Thanks Billx1--I'll look into the call bridging device.

Bas--no problem--do you have a way for this to work with Essential, copper lines, and embedded vm? I know the capability is there because the system can forward calls offsite just fine--it just seems like ways of getting dial tone have been blocked for security or so more expensive features will be purchased. If someone has a hack for this (that will probably then be blocked in future versions) let me know. Older phone systems seemed to have had this feature more often so I think that is where the customer expectation is coming from.

Thanks

Only works with SIP or ISDN lines, you need FNE codes to make it work.

Looks like to make this work I can use a device such as RAD-AMP (by Viking) to connect two of the analog phone ports together. The user would call into the auto attendant, dial the secret extension number for the phone port, dial a passcode if configured, then the unit will open up dial tone on phone port 2.

I haven't been able to get the IP Office to do this though I'm sure it could if it was programmed to.

Thanks everyone!
