Hey all,

Last week when Wiredawg posted re DISA/Auto answer trunking on an 8X24 I got curious. Of course he's right the 8x24 DR5 installer guide is horrible on this matter. Also it seems that on all the past posts this question has not been answered successfully for an 8X24. So I got an 8x24 DR5, Trunk module, E&M card, LS/DS card and stuck it all together and tried to follow all the tips and all the manual's directions.

ZIP

I am not getting dial tone, solid or stuttered. The LS/DS card is going off hook but no dial tone is returned. Eventually a reorder tone is returned. I'm not sure if the reorder tone is Telco or Norstar... suspect Telco. It's too late to check tonight.
E&M card is set for E&M, auto answer. LS/DS card is set for loop & auto answer. How do I get the DTMF receivers to look at the loop start auto answer circuit of the LS/DS card and send dial tone?
Alarm 63 - x - y comes up indicating no DTMF recievers available. Besides the possibility that the E&M card is hooped, what do I need to look at next?

Cheers all.

Arr,

You don't hear dial tone after you dial the LS/DS line ,then you don't have the EM card in the system either its bad or its not configured .Look at maint and you should see that card with 2 lines ,despite the card has 4 lines 2 is actual lines and 2 is DTMF ,and thats what provides the dial tone when you call the DISA lines. Here are couple of steps should consider, first make sure that the LS/DS line is programmed for AUTO answer and with Disconnect Supervision, and IF DISA is set to YES then you will have to program a Password under General admin,Capabilities,COS password, and assign that password to a remote Package which you will use to dial out,its also under General Admin,Capabilties,Remote Access Package and choose which pool you will use to dial out.The EM lines does't matter if they programmed for auto answer or not or with DISA or not ,because we use these card not for the EM lines but for the DTMF lines. So when you call in on the LS/DS line you will hear dial tone and if set DISA to YES ,enter your Password and then your access code for the pool (9) and dial the Number,if you want to reach some extension then you will have to use Target line and assign the target to each ext with received digits match the ext number. And if you have Remote page set up to yes under Remote access Packge you can page internally as well. You can do the same way with MICS 032 using either the EM card or the service card or combo card, all these provides DTMF tone.I hope that helps. Good Luck!

MR,
Both TCs set for auto ans.. DISA N . There is no auto or DISA DN specified in misc.

Sam,
Thanks for all. BUT I am not looking for DISA. Am looking just for filter 03 auto answer. So if DISAs set for N Disa becomes a non issue.

Maint sometimes 'sees' the LS/DS card, sometimes doesn't. It has never done more than give me a N/A on the E&M card. It knows something is there but doesn't report it. This doesn't suprise me a lot as the Maint function in the Modular is shakey at best. So perhaps if the Maint reports N/A the card is hooped or the DR5 Software is hooped.

But what is it that brings dial tone to the LS/DS card? Is there a jumpered cross connection to the E&M card or does the E&M just automaitecally send it through the backplane? And is there jumper loops to be done to the E&M card to make this happen?

Item last Alarms 63 x (no DTMF Receivers available and 61 x card incompatable come up when E&M card initialized in TM.
The TM is being unplugged during programing change from loop to E&M.

???

The tone comes from the EM card ,for just being there and program the lines to be EM ,no jumpers or auto answer on these EM lines required. If you have the LS/DS card programmed with auto answer ,DISA no ,then once you call in you should hear a second dial tone and you will be able to either dial an extension or outside numbers but you have to set the Remote Access Package as I mentioned previousely. In the Maint.you should see the TC card and it will show only 2 lines if it was programmed for EM.If you can't see anything in maint or it comes and goes maybe you have a deffective 2 or 6 port expansion or the main system .I doubt its the s/w.This alaram means that the system either does't see that you have EM card(No DTMF availble) or its not programmed as EM Lines.By the way what you means by filter 03 auto answer. Good Luck!

Sam,
Filter 03 is default line filter no restrictions. Like your suggestion about the expansion card. Will replace it. Have another E&M card on the way. You have confirmed all I thought was right. Will let you know.

OK All 'specially Sam;

Replaced two port exp card with 6 port exp card. E&M cam up in maint just fine. Got auto answer dial tone. Put 2 port exp card back in. Got E&M on maint just fine. Got auto answer dial tone.
GREAT clue Sam about the expansion card. I suppose it just needed to be reset. Weird as it saw the LS/DS card sometimes before.

Arr is happy now.

Thanks Sam and MR for thinking about this one.

Cheers
