I am trying to figure out how to put someone directly into VM from the receptionist desk.

Here phone has a shortcode on button ( *56)

Looking up *56 in the shortcodes it shows #directVM.

Just cant figure out the procedure to use it. Dont know if we have to put them on hold, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Rich

I use a Shortcode of #xxx (if using 3 digit dialing plan) and Number as #N and feature of VoicemailCollect.

simply transfer calls to # and their extension. can also leave messages for people by dialing # and extension.

OK, this issue has been explained countless times here but I will explain it again for ya.

Example: your stations are 1xxx
Short code- #1xxx
Tele- #1N
Feature- Voicemailcollect

Just hit: transfer#extension-number and then hangup

That will do it!!!

So the #DirectVM has nothing to do with putting someone into voicemail directly?

I thought VoiceMailCollect was for retrieving it.

Thanks much

Ive never used it the way you described, so Im not realy sure. The way i described will definetly work....

ctiowa, can you give the details of the entire shortcode you are questioning, and also where it is at? system or user??

What the others mention is the normal way to transfer a called directly into the mailbox so what you have may be something entirely different or maybe something that is just a leftover from prior testing

Under the user button 4 has "Dial" and "*56".

If you go to the shortcode for *56 it has the following:

Shortcode *56
Telephone number #Directvm
Line Group ID 0
Feature VoiceMailNode

Thanks

Rich

do you have a module in your voicemail under specific start points, shortcodes, that equals the #Directvm ???

it's probably an attempt to accomplish the same thing that that others above has suggested with the #1xx shortcode, which is much easier to use

That sounds like a module to me. After you dial *56 you probably here. "Enter extension number" Then when you do this the person will hit transfer right away. I used to do it this way as well the *56 comes from Magix background, but the way superjenks has described to do it works best.

This is starting to make sense. The voicemail box crashed a while back. Had to rebuild the routing and menus from scratch and we had no idea what was there.

IPhello, you are correct, thats exactly what we hear.

I think I will drop the whole voicemail server shortcode and change it to the above recommended method. Try to figure that out now.

Thanks !

i have always got it to work via short code in manager. i never had to setup a module in vmpro

Yes, I tried the short code in the user with manager and works great.

Thanks,

Rich
