Please let me know ur valuable suggestions to correct this problem

looks to me like you have one directory under /u02/test/stage_new which is either a space, or non-displayable character. You should be able to treat it as a wildcard and rename it thus:

mv ./* newname

Tried using mv ./* newname but this didn't help. Any other way to do this.?
Following is the output.

pisces:/usr21/temp/stage_new:# mv ./* new
mv: cannot access ./*
pisces:/usr21/temp/stage_new:# cp -r ./* new
cp: cannot access ./*

I beleive this has been dealt with on a previous thread but it was so good that I kep a note of it.

Run ls -i to get the inode number, lets say it is 9999, then run this command: -

find . -inum 9999 -exec mv {} newname \;
