I'm getting this error:
Code:
Directory not found. Can not backup directory \Documents and Settings\\NZIP~1.LNK and its subdirectories.

Now, I'm not surprised it can't find it because it doesn't exist. The selection is
Code:
\\SERVER_NAME\C:\*.* /SUBDIR
(followed by a bunch of excludes). So how is that selection picked up something that doesn't exist?

Thanks, folks.

I had exactly the same problem, after spending numerours hours scouting the veritas website, decided to delete the selection and re-enter it, problem solved!

Did you have to re-do the entire selection list or just that one server?

The goal on this action will be, to remove and re-enter this "problem" server. So BE will write the "new directory topology" to the selection list...

Okay, so just that box, not the entire selection list. I'll give it a whirl ...

I have more complicated problem. I have daily back-ups and every day I get the same problem. The copy-paste is below ... from where I can not resolve which folder makes problems.

If anyone can help I would really appreciate it.

Tnx, Izidor

IzidorJereb ,

Did you create a new selection list?
What version of BEWS are you using?

rgdrs

What do you mean by "create a new selection list"! Do you mean to choose everythng again.
BEWS version is 9.1 Rev.4691

IzdorJereb,

Is Dawn the directory or the server name?

Have you checked the permissions? Backup Exec uses the account that the BE Job Agent service runs as to access directories. If the directory is on a network drive, the account needs to be a domain account and have proper access permissions to the directory.

Also, if Dawn is the directory name, you need to precede it with the drive letter and the server name (if it's on a different server than BE).

Izidor, did you manage to figure this one out? I'm having the exact same problem -- The directories that are listed don't even exist on my server, not to mention that the directory name has two back-slashes in it ("\xxx\\yyy\z")

I also tried turning off the root folder ("\xxx"), saving it, and then re-adding it, but the error doesn't go away.

Errrmm :)

I had the same issue before. Go to veritas and look for doc. ID 207001.

We were having the same issue here recently. The backups for these particular jobs had run perfectly for months and then suddenly started having these bogus directory errors. I talked to Veritas support last week and he figures the job became 'corrupt'. Of course, he has no suggestions as to why or how a job would be come corrupt. He suggested recreating the job completely. I recreated only the selection lists for those jobs and that corrected the error.

I am willing to bet you are using the Open File Agent on these servers. Anyway, Whenever I recieve this error message I have to split the backup job into 2 pieces. Put 50% of the original job in one script, and 50% in another. This always fixes my problems. I think that you are probably running low on disk space and the AOFO cache file runs out of space therefore you start getting those bogus error when you are backing up.

Joe.....

I get this regularly with directories that have been changed or deleted during the backup. Some of my servers are hosting servers, on which the users can change their directories at any time, and if they do this during the backup, it can cause this problem.
