In filer all entries in a directory do not show up however using a command prompt in NT the dir and file count is correct. This is a microsoft share created on an IBM AS400.
Under win 98 there is no difference on file count from filer and the command prompt listings

Filer in FPW 2.x on any station running greater than ~300Mhz, is unreliable or simply won't work. Before MS removed most references to FPW in the Knowledgebase, this was clearly documented. Consider upgrading to VFP.

Thanks for the response,

This is foxpro 2.6a for dos the problem exists in

OK, is this a "root" directory? DOS (and therefore likely FPD) only supports 128 "files" in a root directory, where other file systems (e.g. NT) don't have this restriction.

In any case does this directory have "a lot" of files? When you suggest that there was no difference in the counts under Win98, was it the same directory?

Ultimately, it may come down to the simple fact that NT (like 2000 and XP) have no real DOS, they only use a DOS emulator. I'm not sure what FPD uses to "load up" filer, but it might have been a DOS function that isn't fully implemented in the NT emulator. Actually, you should be happy FPD mostly works under NT - I'm finding that in "hangs" running under XP in many circumstances.
