Is a CSU/DSU required when connecting two collocated Merlin Legends using 100 DS1 T1 Cards.

Thank you for your time,

Sean.

snowtrp, that would depend on the distance and conditions between them. If you are say side by side, in the same building (you may have to work with the Line Compensation if greater than 100 ft.), I would say no. If you are talking long haul (say over 300 ft.), or if you are connecting to another building)I would say yes. The greater the distance and the worse the conditions, the greater the chance your signal will become degraded or you could damge your module.Remember to reverse your xmit and recv pairs at one end.

I have done several co-located switches, up to 4 switches, in the same room with no problems.

What Franke said. I have had two connected via about 300 feet of CAT5E cable for several years. This cable might be overkill, but have had zero problems.
