Alright well I need help and I got no clue where to turn. All of a sudden my DirectX on my pc (which has working nVidea graphics card and all) isn't working. In the diagnostics tool the test results for Direct3D are as follows:
Direct3D test results: Failure at step 42 (Query for D3D): HRESULT = 0x80004002 (No interface)
Now I got no clue how the hell to fix it. It used to be failure at step 8 (creating 3D device), now it's 42. I've had lotsa people come in and take a look. Yes I've done all the basics like trying different graphic drivers and stuff like that, but nothing seems to work. It doesn't seem to be a physical hardware prob either. Well cause of this I can't do anything that requires DirectX (which is 99% of the games out there) and so I'm stuck.
Anyone got any ideas how to fix it? it's a REALLY weird prob - never seen anything like this.
BTW - yes my graphic card is compatible and i have enough memory and basic stuff like that, and I've got all the basic Windows Updates so far.

hey there the green beret, you didn't specify what operating system you had, so here's a couple of links; see if these help:The first one is for Win98 & WinME
This one is for Win2K
These are links to DirectX ver. 8.1 install and upgrades, maybe updating to the newest version will help your problem.
If you are running XP, then DX 8.1 is already installed, and these may not help.
Hope these are worthwhile for ya.
