Our Nortel phone sets have moved around in the office, and some issues with voicemail have arisen. One of our of main lines runs to most phones in the office. Whenever a voicemail is recorded on that line, it goes to a different mailbox instead of always going to the same one that it should go to. (We have no automated operator system, by the way.) My question is this:

How can I direct voicemail messages for a particular line to always go to the same phone, when this line runs to multiple phones in the office?

Is there way to choose one phone to always answer messages for a particular line, i.e. be dominant over all other phones?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Sounds like a conflict.
Make sure the ring count for the forward no answer setting in capabilities is set to less rings then the other sets that have the same line ringing at it.

The forward no answer setting is not active. Why does the system choose one specific phone to save messages on for this line? How can I change that?

Is this any random mailbox or always same mailbox?

If Forward No Answer is not programmed then maybe that is why.
The proper way is to press Feature 985 to see the DN of voice mail then program Forward No Answer each set to that DN and set the ring count.
In rare special situations where a phone needs to ring endlessly look at the DRT settings
If DRT is at 4 rings then Line 1 will DRT to the prime set.
Check Line 01 to see what the Prime set is.

The message is always saved to the same phone. This is fine, but I just want the messages saved to a different phone. This is becoming quite a struggle.

Then set the "Prime Set" for the line in question to the phone you desire

Thank you all. It turned out that the issue was the ring count. The phone was ringing for too long, causing the caller to be redirected to the message answering service of our telephone service provider, which was not set up and just terminated the call. The ring count was brought down to three and now messages can be saved to the PBX.
