Hi all,

I have 3 extensions that need to become direct lines. How do I go about setting these up?

I appreciate your time and help

depends on your switch setup, are you using did or pvr?

return untill it starts to print, you've either got did trunks or auto term cot trunks.. if you dial xxx + ext from outside, they are usually did.

then you just need a vacant number in your did range. that information is on your phone bill, usually did are blocks of 100 numbers..

ld 20
prt
ludn
x

(the starting number on your did range)

that will list numbers in the switch that are not assigned to anyone..

then on the phone
Code:
PT0000
REQ: chg
TYPE: 2616
TN 64 0 14 14
ECHG yep
ITEM key 0 scr 4962
HNT FNA

if your did range is 4900 to 4999, that station would now be a direct.. there is also a translator that can be used.. if your did range is a conflict in a network plan, ld 49 prt idc... if you have translators built they would be there and you may have to add a new one

txs John. I will take a look to see what #'s I have available. The confusing thing is; is the range is so wide here.

We have extensions in the ranges:
3000-3200(3200 being main line/attendant)
5400-5499
8900-8999

With 2 sets of prefixes that vary...

how many of those can you dial direct from outside xxx 8900, xxx-3000 ? those are your did's.. in the switch i maintain the complete nxx are my did's any number i add is a did xxx + 0000 thru 9999, are routed to the hospital. you may well have 400 did's for a average size switch.. find a vacant number, prt a simular set and you'll see the key entry for a did, it looks almost the same as a non did. the big difference is the pstn routing
