IPO Basic Partner r 8 Added 16 digital station module to the unit and have the following problem: 1416s plugged into the expansion module come up with a garbled display, the phones can make and receive calls and the display is fine when viewing the Menu options. Same 1416 plugged into the main unit work fine...any direction greatly appreciated.

Yes, it's a deliberately crippled and limited operating mode that was created to force an extra licence to be purchased, few people who know the system well will use it :)

This is why we always avoided Avaya and used Nortel....we recently took over this account and cannot believe how limited Basic is

Then don't use it, we don't. "Essential edition" as Avaya now call it is actually how the system used to work and is far from limited :)

So you avoid Avaya and go for Nortel while that crappy basic IPO stuff is actually Nortel simulation?

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

sounds like the way to go....is it an expensive upgrade? Dealing with a doctor's office that throws nickles around like man hole covers :) As far as our issue goes, is this something you've seen before?
Thanks
Tom

A couple of a hundred dollars.

Obviously can't go for Nortel anymore and I believe it says PARTNER not Norstar. Just looking for some direction here

Can't say that I've seen that issue before. If its a new DS16 I'd get it swapped and see if the problem persists. Also, +1 to everyone saying to avoid Basic like the plague.

yes try 1st to replace module and yes try to get them off of basic mode
