I have an IP Office 412 and one of the digital modules has all the lights flashing and the one in the middle flashing red. Waiting for support again... Is it dead? We unplugged everything and plugged in the module first then the IP Office and it is still doing the same thing. Any suggestions? Thx.

We came in this morning and that was the state it is in. We did trip the circuit on the UPS that it is connected to yesterday early in the morning -- it worked fine all day yesterday. The unit is shown in the Manager. I did power everything off and back on -- would the Reboot do something different? Thx.

Well, when you have a down module, it wouldn't hurt to try. Especially since the module is recognized in Control Units in Manager. Tell the customer you have to reboot, that's it.

If that doesn't work, you should try connecting to the module via it's DTE port on the back of the unit, check out faq940-6158
for info. You'll most likely need a modem cable to connect to the module, and then hyperterminal into the unit and reset it via the methods described in that doc.

Obviously backup your config before starting any of this!

If a module stays red then i think its broke and must be replaced.
I think you can,t do DTE port maintanance on a Module.
Replace the Module and send it to your Service dealer.

Yup - busted! Avaya just left. Thanks for the help.

In this case the unit is broken. I also had it once when i forgot to give my pc a fixed ip number during the upgrade what resulted in a incomplete flash in de module.

The steps i then took where as following.

1. erase the memory of the module via the dte port
2. the manager running on my laptop connected via lan (and a fixed ip). With a correct bin file of the module in the manager directory.
3. reboot the whole system.

Now you can see in the manager that the bin file is reloaded in to the module.

After that the module was working fine again.

Was the unit alternating the flash from red to green to off?

No. Just flashing red in the middle LED and all ports were flashing -- no red to green. Has anyone seen this before? The whole system is only 1 year old -- if this would have been the control unit I would have been totally screwed.

Could also be the powersupply.
I've seen this happening before.
Try the powersupply from the IpOffice and look if the unit
boots up normally.
If so swap the power supply.

True thing on the power supply - I had one out of the box that way, and I lost one due to power supply same way after a year. Make sure your power supplies have room to breathe - little puppies get hot quick - that is what took one of mine out.

I'm definitely going to purchase a spare power supply. Thanks.
