I recently ordered the 1151C1 power supply for a phone with a BM12. My disti sent the new style power supply with a Y-Adapter and said this is the replacement because the 1151 is no longer being used. Has anyone used this new setup to be able to tell me if you can use a standard single pair cable from the DS port/wall jack to the single input of the adapter? I understand a CAT5 cable is required between the Y-Adapter and power supply and adapter to the phone. I am just concerned that if the customer has old wiring with RJ-11 jacks we will not be able to use this new setup without re-wiring everything.

Yes, I could have tested this at my location but I shipped equipment directly to customer site 3 hours away and was not aware they were changing what I ordered. I just want to make sure it works before I try to talk the customer through the setup.

The BM12 is for the 9500 series phones. the SBM32/DBM32 is for the 1400/1600 series.

The reason it was done is because it was replaced by 700511777 PWR SUPPLY LOCAL 1151D1 48V, this is what should have been sent to you instead of the 1151C1.

Also be kind and answer TouchToneTommy post.

I am trying to get the technician to send a photo of the adapter. The concept is the same as the item in the photo but it doesn't look like that. It is white with a molded RJ-45 male cable on 1 side and two female connections labeled 48v and Phone on the other.

My disti description for 700511777 is:

Avaya ENT 700511777 - GLOBAL POE Y ADAPTER FOR DIGITAL PHONE BUTTON MODULES, PRODUCT

The 1151D1 was a different model power brick that looks exactly like the 1151C1. The 1151D1 was discontinued long ago.

Yes, seems like 1151D1 was EoS in June 2016.

By logic the RJ45 should go into the phone, the PoE connected to the 48v and the IPO DS port should be connected to the phone female connector.
If one of the 2 top Y legs should go into the phone the designer is retarted =)

I have used it and it is a male RJ45 plug going to the wall I just used a female to female RJ45 adapter and plugged my RJ11 cable into the wall outlet and it worked fine.

Mentioned that earlier. That's what we ended up doing to make it work.

Avaya thinks everyone is wired RJ45 and no one uses USOC or RJ11 in an office thus the connector.

My educated guess is that Avaya saved $10 making this y adapter for digital phones with a button module instead of continuing to make the 1151C1 & 1151D1. I have customers that would move their phone & could barely figure out the hookup of the 1151C1, they have no hope with this solution... what an ugly complicated hookup just to run a DSS. yuk!

In case you haven't had the joy of seeing one of the new adapters in person. We plan on ordering couplers to accommodate our customers with RJ11 jacks.
