I have a customer with an 18A digital announcement unit. They lost the handset to record the announcements. I tried both a legend MLX type handset and a handset from a 2500 set. Neither would work correctly. Any ideas?
Thanks

Try an old Merlin analog phone handset, (from the BIS line). I have a "Digital Announcer" modelR-002 and that is what works on it. Good luck.

I am pretty sure you can connect an analog line to the 15a and 18a to record remotely.

The H/S needs to be one of the carbon handsets, "J" style or as everyone likes to put it, "the round ones". You can buy "K" style handsets as well that are carbon "MlX shaped ones".

On all the DA's that I've worked with there is a "dial-in" option where you basically dial the port of one of the DA's and enter a security code (check manual) then you can program that way. If all else fails, a single port DIGITAL answering machine running in announce only mode works fine for about $30 per port.
