hello,
we have two sites connected port network 1. The two sites used to be stand alone switches with no tie trunks to port network 1. Now that the sites are on line our users are still dialing 10 digit numbers to get to a extension that they can dial via 4 digit. So my question is, Other then using the ars digit conversion table is there a way to convert the dialed 10 digit number to 4 digits. We are cm 3.1.

thanks

Multi location dialing.

You are already convertying it using the digit conversion table. It sounds to me like what you want is the users to stop dialing 10 digits.

Or .. do you mean to say that you need to administer the system to route 4 digits calls meant for the other site accross the tie trunks? Which would keep the users from having to dial 10 digits

we are converting via the digit conversion table, however if one of my sites would loose connection the calls would not route to to he main site (port network 1). we are trying to get our users to stop dialing 10 digit, but we all know how hard it is to teach a old dog new tricks. and we are not using tie trunks, its a main site with an ESS and two LSP's connected to it.

Sounds like you need to setup IGAR. Intra gateway alternate routing. It's essentially the same as using a secondary trunk choice in a route patern if the first is down.

thank you, i am going to try that out.
