Hi,
Thanks in advance for any useful help.

I have been trying to display values from a related file on a master file in a lookup field. I have defined the relationship between the two files, and have defined the lookup field as described in the users manual. The field always comes up empty. I then tried to display the field using a relational database, and there was no problem (the relationship was defined in the exact same manner, therefore, I believe the relationship was defined correctly). Why does the lookup not display any information and just present as a blank field? How can I get around this? What am I missing?

Thanks,
Rob.

Rob,
Can you be a bit more specific?
Just how have you defined your lookup field?

I am sorry for this very delayed response. I was a bit unsure how to use this type of site, and never appropriately followed up. I wound up eventually solving this problem - which in retrospect was pretty simple. I have posted my most recent problem in a new "thread". Thanks for your interest in this old request, and I would appreciate any help on the new one you might offer.

Rob.

I'm new to fmpro and seem to be having the same problem
honkanen described. Honkanen, could you describe your
simple solution if you recall it?

Thx, Brian

I found my problem. One of the fmpro books I have incorrectly says to select the "destination lookup field" prior to doing the lookup update (relookup). While this
seems like the intuitive thing to do, Fm-pro docs indicate the "match field" should be selected instead... that works.
