Does Backup Exec 7.3 properly handle archive bits on Sun Solaris servers? We're using WINNT based BE to backup a Solaris 6 server accross the network. Two days ago we did a normal backup (reset archive bit). Last night the differential backup ran and backed up even more data than the full one did. This leads me to believe the archive bit was not reset, not read properly, or BE doesn't use archive bit with Solaris. Anyone have an idea what's going on and how to work with it?

Actually, it does the same thing with linux incrementals. I have posted a message but no answers yet. Contact tech support (Veritas) and you may get an answer

There are no archive bits in Unix. Only modified time. Backup Exec for Windows Servers version 9 has a new feature that allows backing up files by modified time which means with that version you can now do diffs or incrementals. It is not possible to do diffs or incrementas w/8.x and older.
