Hi Everyone

I'm having a bit of a dilemma with my hard drive.

It's a 200Gb S-ATA drive which is partitioned 80, 80, 15, 15.

The first partition has 2000 Pro installed on it.

The second partition has XP Pro installed on it.

The third partition I want to use for all my media files to keep them seperate but if I copy the files in from XP they don't appear under 2K and vice versa. The used space changes according to the combined contents but the other files are not visible.

Please can anyone help???

A comment here. WHY are you using such large partitions for the OS's???? (Assuming that from the list you are loading each OS in each of the 80 Gig partitions) I'd put them in small (no more than 10 Gig parttions and leave more room for apps, files, etc.

having said that, when you switch from one OS to the other, do the partitons where your media files reside have the same drive letters? Have you verified this???? They SHOULD show up no matter what OS your using. I assume you are using NTFS? Can you find your media files if you do a search for them? That would give you, not only the file name, but the path to the file.

as pweegar says - both o/s should be able to see all partitions - but drive letters might be different between 2k & XP.

If you're using ntfs there might be a permissions issue if you are creating folders in one o/s and trying to access in the other - the second o/s user might not be recognised as having access - so you may need to take ownership with an administrative user and set permissions for the second o/s
