Different BOM for same manufacture item

We are in the process of producing the same item in different plant. In one plant I will be providing with all materials in the other plant they would provide with all the materials. I have found that by having one BOM the cost is been calculated wrong since both production show the same BOM but in reality both production have different cost. How can I override the cost without do it manually, or do you know if there is any module that I can use to have 2 different BOM?

mongos30: care to elaborate? what are you trying to accomplish? do you have FG that they make overseas? Or do you have a fg that replaces your stateside mfg item? The "fix" will be dependent on these questions based upon macola's lack of ability to have 2 BMs for the same item.

I have a FG that is produce in USA and have the same FG produce in CHINA. When I bring this FG either from USA or China is been rec'd through a POP order in US location since this is the location when invoice is driven from. But my problem is that the cost of this item might not show profit because all cost associated with US AND CHINA are been combine into one FG. So, I'm trying to figure out how can I manipulate the Standard Cost for this FG.

mongos30: do you order, manage & own the component inventory in CH? If not, just issue a PO to buy the item from the CH & bring it into a different location in your main facility. This way, you can have a mfg item in loc 01 with a BM & cost of $10. You can have a purchased item in loc 02 that was built in China with a cost of $8. When you enter the customer order in OE, you choose which location to pick from. In this case, they are physically separate buildings, but a conceptual location in your main warehouse.

If you own & manage the components in china as well as the US, you must set the BM up in the product structure file WITHOUT a component location. Then, you can build a BM in either 01 or 02
