Differences in MSMGR.msd question

6.7.1 Win2k

After deploying the service pack, we discovered that the event server settings in the sortX12 map in the MessageManager.msd was different than 6.7.

(MSMNGR-X12-X12Inbound-SortX12.mmc)

Specifically, in 6.7.1, Output Card # 1 is set to:
Target: File
File Path: staging*.tmp
On success: Create
On Failure: Roll back
Scope: Card

However, in 6.7, Output Card # 1 is set to:
Target: SINK

This is causing a problem in 6.7.1 as thousands of staging*.tmp files are now in the mmgr folder.

Question 1: Why aren't the staging*.tmp files being cleaned up?

Question 2: What is the difference between making the output card for 6.7.1 set to SINK or !create?

The files aren't being cleared up because the card is set to Create. It must have got the card details from the map which either it didn't do at 6.7 (bug) or it has decided to overwrite settings in the msd.

Service pack should not have had anything to do with card settings.

Did you rebuild the msl at 6.7.1? If so you may have forgotten to change the card setting to sink.

So, I'm assuming someone must have changed it to SINK a while back.

I changed it to !create rather than Sink. What is the difference again? Sink is memory and !create is file based?

Yes. use !create if you are building a large object and want to save memory.

They were 1 to 10mb, so !create is good then. Thanks for your help as always.
