Differences between Merlin Classic 820 and Merlin Plus Systems 1

I've got a dilemma and am not sure direction to go. I have two used phone systems to choose from:

1. Merlin Classic 820 (8 lines, 20 ext) with Merlin Feature Pack 2 (V1)and Music on Hold Cartridge

VS.

2. Merlin Plus Control Unit Release 2.0 (8 lines, 20 ext)

Both seem to have similar features offered from what I can see and I'll be connecting it to an ATT Classic Mail system (4 port). This is for a small business office with no more than 100-150 calls a day, in and out.

Can anyone give me guidance as to which is the best system option or a web site that might show the two in side-by-side comparisons? Other forums?

Off the top of my head:

Merlin Plus has flexible line assignments so lines can be assigned to any button on each station.

ASA - automatic system answer will answer calls, play a brief announcement and put the call on hold until someone can pick up the call.

BB - busy-buster feature will auto redial a busy number until it can connect.

There is also a line redirect feature that allows incoming calls to be diverted to an external number. If you don't need any of these extra features the 820 classic will work fine. You can download the system manuals at

Also, the Plus has a little better support for display phones, I believe.

I also have a Merlin 820 Plus system in use along with a Voysys voicemail system. I previously was using the Merlin 820 Classic. Tbe Merlin Plus provides for more flexibility for my install and along with the voicemail system it allows for the unattended call routing capability.
