difference between two text files?

I have made script that connect to an FTP server and write getted files to text file, after that i RE-connect and write the content of the ftp server to a text file.

Is there a way to know the difference between the two files?
So I will see in files not downloaded.

I prefere other way than diff...

You can use diff <file1> <file2>.
