Has anyone seen this issue before or have suggestions?
System: NorStar MICS 4.0. In TM7 I have 3 DID cards.
All lines cfg as
Type=DID, Signal=WinkStart, Pool=Public, Mode=Tone , Auto Priv=Y.

The DID lines are coming off a an AdTran TA750 Channel Bank from two FXO cards running in DPT mode.

Provider is AT&T. Signal is comming from a 5ESS.

When AT&T starts a call, my MICS winks OK, but as soon as ANY digit is sent doen the line from AT&T, the caller gets a fast busy. The problem happens as soon as the first digit comes down the pipe. The MICS is set for a rcvd len of 4. I've had AT&T send 1, 2, 3, and 4 digits down, with the same result.

We have verified signaling, gain, & hardware, but nothing looks amiss. The issue seems to be between the MICS DID cards and the 5ESS.

Any thoughts?

you say that your using fxo cards, don't know about adtran fxo's but the others i've seen are for either loop start or ground start trunks not did's

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

AT&T often uses the TA750 at the end of a DMS100 to deliver local service via loop start lines. We needed DID trunks, too, so they added two FXO cards(instead of FXS) to provide the DID service.

GO TO THE TIP AND RING OF THE DID TRUNK GOING INTO THE NORSTAR, REMOVE THE ADTRAN. GO OFF-HOOK AND DIAL THE DID NUMBER (LAST 4 DIGITS) IF PHONE RINGS AND YOU CAN TALK TROUBLE NOT IN NORSTAR

OLD ROLMEN WORKING ON NORTELS

We did the test - we get fast busy. I am confused as to how that test would work. How does a regular butt-set send Wink-Start to the line to get a hand shake? Does it not need to ?

you can tell if there is wink on the trunk just by connecting the butt set to teh trunk. You should get a click click type sound, indicating the wink from the Norstar

I justlet AT&T go. They proved to me that their inbound DID was working correctly.

I have three DID cards in that TM. I rotated the cards (with the system off) and the problem persists on all 3 cards.

Looks like I have 3 defective DID cards, or some obscure configuration option is causing the problem.

Thanks for your help, everyone.

3 defective DID cards? I have been working Norstars for 10 years and don't think I've had that many all totaled. Might want to check on your equipment provider, unless it turns out taht it wasn't the equipment that was bad..

NextiraOne is on the way right now. We'll see what pans out. I'll post the solution when we're back up and running.

how did they prove inbound DID call worked? and bags is correct been working with these since 94 and have replaced 2 DID cards"lightning strikes" as far as obscure ...its pretty straight forward nothing obscure about it..as far as your vendor...should have had ATT and your nextira tech there together.

ONLY 7 WEEKS TILL SKI SEASON STARTS

Before making such a statement I would check the wiring.

During their first troubleshooting session last Friday (8 hours long), the AT&T tech altered the original wiring and reversed polarity on all 8 pairs of the cross-connects between the AT&T 66 block and the patch panel for my switch (swapped Tip & Ring). We are going for completely patchable for data & voice wiring plant.

The two subsequent AT&T techs and the NextiraOne tech all focused on the equipment, not wiring, although they all briefly glanced at it. After we had AT&T shutdown lines 2 through 8, the NextiraOne tech bypassed the wiring plant for line one with cross connect wire and a spare 66 block, accidentally reversing the polarity of the lines in the process, undoing the reversal at the 66 block, and the DID functionality worked. After we discovered the polarity reversal, I had my wiring vendor come back out and correct the polarity swaps from AT&T's 66 block at the channel bank all the way through to the switch.

We're up an running now.
Conclusions:
1. My luck with AT&T is lousy
2. DID trunk cards in a NorStar MICS 4 return a fast busy when the polarity is reversed.
3. When asking the provider to send someone with a T-Bird, emphasize that the T-Bird has to have the module in it to sniff out the DID digits. Apparently this feature is an add-on to a T-Bird 2310.

Thanks to all for your suggestions.

Wait a minute. If the AT&T tech was out there for 8 hours on the first troubleshooting session and reversed polarity on the wiring, what was he out there for, before the polarity was reversed?

AT&T Came here on Friday, 10/1/04, to install a channel bank with 16 analogs and 8 DIDs.

It all went downhill after that. Needless to say, the NorStar MICS is working perfectly and never had a problem. The issue was with AT&T's switch & CPE programming and their modifications to my wiring plant.
