I've got a T-1 setup with 4 trunks: 15 lines for general inbound/outbound, 1 for FAX, 3 for special purposes, and the remainder of them into a final trunk.

I would like for the last line(s) to go directly to the AA. The idea is provide a way for staff and others who know the extension they want to reach to dial directly to AA rather than going through the receptionist.

I've done this before but am drawing a complete blank.

Any ideas?

Ask your provider what they are sending down your T1 to get to your system. You may need to configure as above. No reason to have what you call trunk groups if your provider is sending down digits that may hit any channel on the span and are translated by your switch according to where your digits are pointed / targeted. ie:AA, DID for station,or DID for ATA (fax machine).

Well, that's what we tried earlier and they seemed genuinely confused. I will give it a go again though - as I believe that is the source of the problem.

Thanks again,

brian

Ask for a configuration; (How T1 was ordered)
Signaling, ESF OR SF, B8ZS OR AMI,
If DNIS was provided (what digits sent 3 or 4 digits)
What block of numbers provided by telco (XXX-XXX-XXXX thru XXX-XXX-XXXX)
How channels are configured (E&M, wink, etc.)
How many channels provided (If it's fractional)
this is standard information given by provider. If they are still not able to give this then you need someone to pin this down as this is vital for programming the MICS / T1 correctly to operate.

If you are receiving digits (sounds like you are) on those last four trunks you probably can put it back to auto answer instead of manual and build a target line for the digits you receive.

alternately set the aa to answer on 2nd ring to give time to receive the digits.

I looked for answer on ring for AA and couldn't find it.

I thought that would be a better solution until I contemplated what I wanted to do.

Where is the answer on ring selection hidden?

Thanks again,

Brian
