DID numbering

I have very recently acquired a customer who has a MICS XC 7.1. They have 22 POTS lines that were outside of the system. They now plan to have the local carrier bring those phone numbers into the system over their PRI as DID. They need to keep the existing POTs line numbers. They had it scheduled to outpulse 3 digits to the system.

However, if the last 3 digits are sent, they include 0-7 for starting numbers. I see this as being a problem with the numbering plan. They currently use 3-digit extension numbers in the 2XX range. They also have a range of existing DID numbers that start with 7XX.

Any suggestions or guidance? Thx

simplist suggestion is to convert to 7 digit incoming on the PRI. then you get all the info of the incoming calls.

a somewhat easy method (but it may cause confusion in the future) is to have the telco port the numbers and have the telco assign a DNIS digit string to each of the existing numbers so you see effectivly a DID of say 500-521 with each of the numbers in the range being assigned to a particular dialed number.

Or 10 digit if the 7 won't work. Building out a PRI can be more of an art form, finding an initial digit in the did block that won't conflict with your existing programming.

i don't see the problem myself
did's go to target lines, if you get the last 3 digits from telco they can map to target lines and then assign the target lines as you would trunks.so the digits from telco are arbitrary

eg phone number 333-456-8787 telco sends 787 map to target line 245
asign target line 245 to ext 221 appear and ring
call 333-456-8787 and ext 221 will ring line button 1

but i could be wrong

Better to go 7 vs 3. Let's say customer has a block of 20 #s 555-5400 - 555-5419 and a few months later u add another 20 #s but can't 5420-5439 and end up w/ 6400-6419. If ur only receiving 3 digits from telco u'll have a problem w/ the Norstar target line programming.

We had this happen at one of our customer sites. All was ok 'til they added more numbers. We had to get telco to change their end, change the rec'd digits, and add the extra digits to all the existing target lines.

Did digits don't conflict with extensions. They conflict with destination codes. 0-7 are fine, letting you keep 8 and 9 available for outbound calls.
