Wanted to post this up for now...looking in FAQ as soon as I type this.

I know how DID calls work with Definity.

How are they handled on Merlin---looking to convert current lines on T1 over to PRI with DID capability.

Thanks in advanced, have a happpy New Year.

from FAQ:
This programming is performed under System/ Lines & Trunks/ PRI/ Dial Plan Routing

Can't program from winSPM eh?

This can be programmed from SPM. It willhandle DID's just fine. If your extensions match the DID's then it is not to bad. if you have to convert DID's to different extensions numbers then you can only do 15 i think. it works well.

Actually, there are 16 PRI Incoming Dial Plan Tables.

However, if you are using most of them to convert D-I-D's to extensions, you probably want to rethink your extension dial plan.

Usually, when a client does such a conversion, and the D-I-D's don't match the existing Dial Plan, I just drop the hint; "You know, you are going to have to change your extension numbers, and re-set up your Voice Mail..". They usually are already prepared for that possibility anyway.

Good Luck

Merlinman,
I have always done that as well. it is way to complicated to convert them to existing extensions.

That is especially true when you have no input as to how they order their D-I-D range.

Is there a report to check if the equipment will require any additional hardware/modules?

Merlinman,

I want to print the report on my laptop to pdf. I am connected via modem *10 in the facility.

I went to printer options and my PC PORT is in red and doesn't let me set it up that way.

Any suggestions?

Never mind.....I got it to save then printed it out to my pdf converter....
In looking over the dial play printout I see

Dial plan for:

Pools
Telephone paging zones
Direct group calling group
Stations
complete dial plan for stations and adjuncts

But I did not see DID

Of course you won't, because there isn't one. The only thing for DID numbers would be the PRI translations (Routing by Dial Plan) and the existing station number assignments. If the DIDs match the station assignments, then the incoming digits are not modified. If they are modified, those translations are in the PRI table. The last part would be knowing what Telco is sending.

The Feature Reference document for Legend/Magix covers this stuff along with the System Planning document. It would be good for you to review those and get more background about how it works and system requirements. They are yours for the download from support.avaya.com .

This is very different from Definity...
