Hi All,
Im working for a hospital with a AVAYA VOIP PBX.
I would like to turn DID's into room numbers. For example a room is on the second floor I want start with the number 2 for the second floor and the last three numbers would be the room number.
Can someone point me the right way???
Thanks

It is more of something you need to go over with the carrier... Ask for a range of DIDS that's match extension numbers or reprogram your extension numbering scheme to match your DIDS

ddcommllc.com
Avaya/Toshiba/Nortel

ACIS

Carrier supplies DID's, not the system.
System only points the DID's to the ext # of your choice.

DID's come in ranges of usually 30.
If 30 rooms per floor and 3 floors starting at rooms 100,200,300 then order 3 blocks as:
XXX-1100-1129
XXX-2200-2229
XXX-3300-3329

Phoneguy, curlycord,
As far as DID's they cant accommodate me, I tied that(its a CLEC provider unbelievable) the third floor is already done. I joined the team 10 weeks ago and my game plan is to to the rest of the paitent rooms like this. So i know this can be done thats why im reaching out to you guys.
Better example.
Rooms on the third floor:
Room 301 is ext.13301 in CM using DID 6301
Room 302 is ext 13302 in CM using DID 6302
this goes all the way to room 336 which is ext.13336 in CM using DID 6336
These are programed as 2500 sets single line apperance

The same answer.

Again....DID's are supplied by the carrier, the phone system only tells that DID which ext to ring too.

If the phone system could make up DID's then we wouldn't need carriers.

The reason 3rd floor was done was because the DID's supplied at the time allowed for it.
i.e you had a range of 6301 to 6336.

If you are asking you carrier for 555-6201 and 6201 is not available then ask for 556-6301 unless you care about the first 3 digits that much.

i've successfully translated incoming DNIS digits into a new set of DNIS digits using an Adtran Atlas to accommodate the PBX dialing plan when the telco can't accommodate.

for example 555-7805 turns into 555-2205
