I was asked by a customer with a PRI if they can have a DID number go directly to an info mailbox as they don't want callers to this number be able to leave messages. Since you can't assign an extension to an info mailbox I'm stuck on how (if possible) to make this work. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Its been a while... but cant you assign a did line number (145 AND ABOVE) TO CCR/AA and just play an announcement or give them one option.. Press 1 and send them to your infobox.

It's a NAM R4.1 on a MICS R?. It was all I could do to get the type voicemail and version out of the customer. I tried having him build an info mailbox with the same number as the received digits, and setting the prime set for target line 192 to the voicemail DN. The NAM answers immediately with the main company greeting instead of the info box announcement.

Do you have AA turned on for line 192. I think its feat982 Answer lines... set to NO for line 192.

Try this, make the prime for the PRI trunks the voice mail DN. DO NOT make a target line for the DID,make the mail box.
Also the mail box number has to match the recieved digits for this to work.
When the DID is called it has nowere to go except the prime for the trunks (VM) then it sends it to the MB.

cook,

I'll give that a try. There is a target line 192 built to receive the digits, but when I had the customer unassign it from all phones the AA main greeting still answered. I hope deleting it altogether makes it go where we want. I'll update when I have an answer.

HCA,

I'll have him double check, but I don't think the AA is set to answer line 192.

Does NAM 4.1 have a Home Info Mode, like Call Pilot? Beacause that would work.

Adversity is Opportunity

Other options or thoughts

1.
Program target 192 to say DN 600 (if not in use)
A&R/Prime line to 600 etc
Set CFNA to 2 rings
Create a normal mailbox 600 to ext:600
Record Alternate, disallow messages for Alternate.

2.
Table/CCR 4
AA Answer target 192
Greeting 1 a second of silence
Set Attdnt to ext:000
Path 0 set to info node
Record info in Path 0 and set to disconnect.

From CP Setup/Op 3.1 :

Using an Information node as a Home node
You can program the Home node to play an Information node. For example:
Come celebrate with us! It’s time for Ideal Office Machines’ annual get-to-know-our-customers
picnic. The annual picnic is on the first Sunday of August from 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. in Thompson
Park. See you there.
If the Home node is an Information node, the caller disconnects at the end of the message. The
other destination types do not apply. For more information on destination types refer to
“Destination” on page 84.

Old school solution- ring to an ata with a radio shack "info" answering machine, if all else fails.

You could always use a regular old subscriber mailbox with the alternate greeting and set it not to receive messages.
You get that annoying chime before the greeting, but it works.

You could create an INFO Mailbox, then have the lines answer into a VM Table that uses, say, CCR Tree 4. In Tree 4 make it a Home/MBox instead of Home/Menu. You then select which mailbox to send the call to, of course it'll be the Info Mailbox created earlier, and voila..

This way you can have as many non-working DIDs as you want to use this VM Table and option..

Well, at least thats my two cents..

Regards to all..

Thanks to all for your suggestions. The customer never went back out to the site. He just built a subscriber mailbox and told the customer what they wanted couldn't be done. Oh well.

I have always used a hunt group for this solution.
create hunt group
assign target line to hunt group
set overflow to DN of Voicemail
set queue to 15 sec (Min you can go) and then overflow
create mailbox with DN same as hunt group dn

How do you create an info mailbox? Can you set one mailbox to send messages to another?

one note on this, make sure the DID is not ringing at any station. If it is, it will go to the AA. Just did this last week with a POTS line and found it ringing on one phone. It can appear, but can;t ring as far as a POTS line goes.

You may want to start a new thread, but for an info box, go ahead and add a new MB. If subscriber appears as an option, change it to information.

If subscriber doesn't appear, then press 1 after hitting MBOX.
