I went to plug in an analog telephone on my Small Office Edition 4+4+8. I plugged it in to the wrong port- one of the top row (digital set) ports, and the whole unit just went dark. Now if I attach the power supply, i see almost nothing in the way of lights, just a slight flicker on the lan ports, then nothing. I tested the power supply with a volt meter and it shows it is putting out 24 volts (with no load).

I have had this for a long time, 10 years I think, with the voicemail pro PC running, and I'm pretty sure I have a backed up config file, and the dongle... Is it a simple matter to get one of these used and use my dongle to activate the licenses, etc?

Or maybe try to have it repaired?

Really appreciate any help or advice!

Certainly sounds like it! I'd get a phillips head, open the case and look for a blown component.

Sometimes you can see a blown capacitor which could be replaced if you have the inclination.

Now experiencing escalation fatigue.

if you get a replacement simply upload the config and you are fine.

Repair may be more expensive than a cheap ebay replacement but on ebay you may get a dud as well.

Thank you for the replies.

Holdmusic34 - I did take it apart, looking for a blown cap or something; found nothing obvious. But, eventually I did take the top card (digital phone card) off the unit, and tried powering up. Good news, powered up no problem. Reconnected and was able to temporarily restore the voice mail etc and one analog phone...

Ordered a used card, hoping to install and hopefully be back in business...
