I have a Internet Conection based on a box with 2k server and its on a USB ADSL Modem but i cannot get it to be shared among other boxes on the network

Has anyone a clue if you can even share this kind of Internet Acess? I know u can if the conection is on a ADSL Router or if the modem is atached to a NIC card but it doesnt seem to work with this USB modem.

Thanks for your help

Should be able to share the connection. Make sure the external NIC is configured with ICS. When you login from a client machine, what is the IP address? Is it in the 192.168.0.x range? If so, ICS is properly distributing IP addresses. If not (IP of 169.x.x.x) then the ICS configuration is incorrect.

I've found that the ICS stuff can be a little flaky and have had some horrible BSOD's as a result of using it.

Try something like Wingate or winroute. Wingate installed on the server works beautifully for me. The only problem I've found is an inconsistancy as to wether to install the wingate client or not. Sometimes it seems to work without the client and sometimes you need it.

Good luck

Since you are using 2k server, you can set up NAT through RRAS, I have found this the easist and most reliable way to share an internet connection. You need to have two nic interfaces on the server to use this feature.[afro]
Good luck
