Greetings,

This is a very elementary question I am sure. My client gave me permission to dial into their server so I could retrieve files. I can dial in just fine, everything connects, etc. I am embarrassed to say I don't know what to do now? How do "see" what's on their server? Is there a way to map a network drive after I am connected? Any clues would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Once you are connected you can go to the tools tab in explorer and map a drive to the share that you will be accessing the data from.

The drive isn't listed and when I try to map to one, no matter what I type in it's incorrect. I've already been down that road. Thanks anyway. That's where I am getting stuck.

You'll need to get the name of the server and share name they are allowing you acess to. IE: \\winserver\share.

Then within Exporer select "map network drive" then, choose the drive letter you wish to use and input the parameters.

A network administator will have had to created a share that is visible to you. They will have the name for you.

Once you've dialed in /logged in, you should be able to right click the "My Computer" icon -->Map Network Drive, and hit "Browse" to select the proper file/folder to access.

Good luck.
