Hi,

Wondering if this can be done....or how... probably be over my head...too involved? re-design? etc.

Migrating from Nortel to Mitel....

Currently we are able to dial 4 digits from the Nortel to the Mitel using cdp. fyi if it matters, Mitel extensions have a 6 in front of them. ie Nortel x1234, Mitel extension 61234.

Thousands of phones have already been migrated and working fine.

However, a situation came up this week where another nortel location cannot dial a mitel phones using their usual access code. They would dial 7 digits from their location. ie 886-xxxx. Obviously no problem to a Nortel phone. But not to a Mitel phone. They shouldn't need to know if it is a phone already migrated to Mitel or not. They are just trying to dial a number that is physically at our location regardless of Nortel or Mitel.

Trying to find out how or if this can be done, or, it may be a whole new design etc? would totally change their dialing plan? too in depth?

Regards

The Nortel system is pretty flexible when it comes to dial plans. Mitel aren't bad either.

From the Nortel end, use the Conversion Utility tool to list out all your routing.

I've attached a copy with instructions.

yep Firebirds option will be simplest to see excel of all you routing but would expect a TSC or DSC, LD 20 and prt DNB for 6 would tell you.

If they can dial Nortel phones from the Remote site then that part is fine. My guess is you need to allow trunk to trunk connections to get the call to flow to the Mitel.

Thanks for all your input guys. All was checked and it was finally determined that it can't be done because they are using local steering codes.

Thank you for all your input! Much appreciated!

Regards,

Greg.

how are they all connected together? it can be done just a question of how and how much config to achieve it for instance if the 2 nortels are joined together and the first send 886xxxx to the second and normally the 886 is striped by what ever means and the nortel extension rings, but its migrated to mitel, then in first nortel you would just set first choice on the RLI to RRA and add a second choice to go to the second nortel with a different prefix to take it through to the mitel.
