A colleague of mine has had some bother with some 'dialers' he accidently allowed on to his computer. Fair to say he is rather new to modern computing, and is a little concerned about this.
Quite what sites he's been visiting is unclear........
The first suspicion that he had a problem was when he attempted to e-mail me a file. One of these programs had somehow stepped in and replaced his file with its own .exe.
I promptly contacted him to warn him of what was going on, and was able to clear no less than four different 'dialers' from his system.
Luckily, none had succeeded in phoning out on their premium-rate numbers.
I'm wondering if anyone else has had this trouble, any idea how they install themselves, generally any info at all on these rather unscrupulous bits of software?
Cheers, Andy. My suggestions are what I would try myself. If incorrect, I welcome corrections to my rather limited knowledge. Andy.
