Each time I try to "make a new connection" in dial-up networking or when I try to dial in to AOL I receive a "dial-up networking cannot start" error box. It says to reinstall dial-up networking which I have done but it still gives me the same problem.

OS Windows98 SE
AOL version 7 and 8 (I tried them both)

The only new software on my machine is the Palm desktop for CLie' -- my PDA software, and I don't recall if the problem cooincided with the new software or not -- I don't use dial-up very often.

Thanks!

Only thing I could think of is install the upgrade.. check out this link and download/install whichever fits your OS.. i'm sure it'll fix it..

Thanks for responding but that link points to an upgrade to dial-up for Win95, I'm running 98se. Any other ideas? The MS knowledge base has an entry but it refers to problems with software I don't even have.

whoa.. I was just reading some of the posts people left about it.. looks like it could do more damage than anything.. good luck? "tis better to remain silent and be thought of as a fool..

Yea, I didn't look down far enough to see the other downloads. I don't think I'm willing to try this upgrade with the negative comments. Anyone have any ideas of a safer workaround?
