Telco recently re-installed a DSS T1 with a test number to an existing system that was replaced by a VOIP system. Outbound works fine but when I call the test number, it hits channel 1 on the system but provides a dial tone. No matter what I do it never changes. I can hear myself playing with the dip switches through my cell phone as im on the call. Ive tried changing the number of digits and the Translation to go elsewhere. Any ideas?

Your post is a bit confusing. Was the Elite 192 system replaced with a VoIP system? Or, was the telco interface replaced? If it worked before their change, call them back in.

They had the Elite 192. Installed a VOIP. Left the Elite 192 in place and running. Year later decided the VOIP was garbage. Before porting the numbers back they re-installed the DSS. But when I went to do some testing, the card syncs up and I can call out. Inbound hits the T1 card in 192 but doesn't go anywhere but provides dial tone. Dial tone goes away when I pull the card from the 192.

We are in Alaska. The VOIP is a lower 48 provider. Therefore the DSS was disconnected and the outside provider took the numbers. Im simply trying to get the DSS to come back up on the system before we port the numbers back. Provisioning is the same as it was before (they say)

Curious question, when they hear DT on an incoming call can you dial out over it?
A PRI tester would be ideal for this situation. However very few interconnect have them (~$5,000 ea). So, is it possible to have your provider bring one out and test on site?
Verify the settings with them, ni-2, AT&T spec, etc.
