I have a client with a 20-year old Nortel Meridian KSU. I am trying to implement a trixbox asterisk server, but for now the transition needs to be seemless and this would best be achieved by dialing out through the ksu, if possible. If this is possible, how do i do it? I don't think i can just dial 9 etc for an outside line...tried that...Do i need to rewire something? Thanks in advance for any help.

Questions are very broad - Can you specify a bit more

Do you need help with the Norstar or trixbox?

How are the 2 boxes interfaced? (what type of trunks) and Why?

I'm using an FXO interface on the trixbox to connect through the norstar (ideally). I am fairly proficient with trixbox, i just don't know what i need to do to make it work w/ the norstar. Further research has led me to understand that i may not be able to do this since norstar uses proprietary digital signaling. An ata may be required, which runs $400 or so. My goal is to simply have the trixbox use one of lines of the norstar as an analogue trunk. I haven't been able to find any documentation on this system, probably due to it's age.
