Hi All,

Is it possible to dial an extension, and have the other side automatically pick up via speakerphone?

That is, instead of ringing at the desk, I want to start talking to the person.

Thanks,

Chris.

thats called paging

make a shortcode like

SC=*80*N#
T=N
function=dailpaging

Also but I took "start talking" to also mean hear the reply. A page call can only be made into a two-way call by the receiving party pressing Conf.

Have you tried Dail Intercom for this? Takes an extra button but it seems to work OK for some of my customers

I use dial direct with my customers and they love it. It even works accross the SCN.

OK, both "Dial Direct" and "Dial Intercom" seem to do what I want. Thanks for the pointer in the right direction.

Here's how I have it setup:

When a call comes in, the receptionist can answer it, press forward, then press a button I've programed to "Direct Dial" a specific extension and gets to talk to the user via speakerphone (e.g. "So and So is on the line. Do you want to talk to them?". If they do, the receptionist presses transfer again, or hangs up. If not, takes a message or transfers to voicemail. This works great.

However, once the call is transfered, it dumps the call into speakerphone mode. While not bad, I was hoping the transfered call would ring at the extension. (I hate to compare this solution to other vendors, but this is how InterTel does it.)

Any ideas?

ShakinEakin - The way IP Office does transfer has caused us to shy away when "upgrading" customers with non-Avaya systems. Most other products will allow voice announce on transfer, then when the transfer consumated, ring the target phone. Folks get accustomed to that MO and don't want to change...

I am in agreement. I would like to see Avaya change this also so when the call is transferred the phone rings not just dumps the caller to the speakerphone. You would think they would like consistency across all lines. The Partner and Legend/Magix ring the phone when transferred. Most of our IPO customers were existing Partner or Legend/Magix customers before and we do get a complaint about this issue, especially after someone had said something they shouldn't have (open mouth insert foot) and the calling party heard them...Sure would hate to have been that employee.
