Hello all,

got an odd issue here.

Users are barred from making calls via user --> barring

we have set up 100 odd short codes eg: #100 <number> Dial Emergency line grp 0

that works all the time.

we have installed a SIP trunk and set up the relevant ARS groups 50:MAIN and 51:SIP

so now our short code is

#100 <number> Dial Emergency line group 51

THE CHECK FOR USER BARRING IS SWITCHED OFF

User gets CALL BARRED!!!

this is also the case for ARS 50:Main which dials out via the ISDN line group 0

have just upgraded from 4.2(17) to 4.2(20) and the result is the same.

anyone any idea?

Ive sent the config off to Avaya for a look, but dont hold any hope for a promt answer.

the implacations for this also are if they need to dial 999 they wont be able to!!

HSM, do you mean you switched off user call barring after changing to the SIP trunk and then you still get barred? It's just you say it's on at the top then off later on :)

You can't bypass call barring in ARS by using a Dial Emergency short code to activate ARS. You would want to do something like this:

Short Code
#100
Dial
55518055551212
ARS:50

ARS:
5551805551212
Dial Emergency
18055551212
Line 1

This would send a specially formatted number (i.e. prepended with 555 before the telephone number) to ARS. In that the ARS short code 55518055551212 is set to Dial Emergency it will bypass call barring, strip off the prepended 555 then send the telephone number to the SIP trunk.

hmmmm.... thats what i thought. i just dont want to have to add 100 numbers into my ars!!!!

to be honest i think this is an issue, as dial emergency should negate all other barring.

so - what is the check box in the ARS to check for user barring about?

Check User Call Barring: Default = Off
If enabled, the dialing user's Outgoing Call Bar setting and any user short codes set to the function Barred are checked to see whether they are appropriate and should be used to bar the call.

user call barring is ON - the object is to barr all outgoing calls and only allow those dialed from the short code e.g #100 dial emergency 07912345678 51:SIP

there are no short codes like:

0N Busy in the short codes either.

its a bit silly having to add these short codes and then replicate them in the ARS!

You shouldn't have too, just put one #N Dial #N 51:SIP then put all the shortcodes in there instead of putting them in both places :)
